How to Disable MS Paint with Group Policy in Windows systems.

1) Disable through Local Group Policy Editor
If you are an administrator of the client computers, and you may have problems with your client users, who are running programs like ms paint, changing the desktop features, or playing windows builtin games and you want to stop such programs from running, here’s are ways how you can use Group Policy method or the Registry method to prevent users from running such programs.
By applying Group Policy Method
Step 1: Open your Run dialog box with the help of Windows + R keys.
Step 2: Insert the words “gpedit.msc” in the Run dialog box and hit enter.

Step 3: A Local Group Policy Editor will appear on the screen, Expand the ” User Configuration” mode, under “Administrative templates“, under that “System“.

Step 4: Click once on the system, on the right-hand side setting option will be available, just select the policy “Don’t run specified Windows applications“.
Step 5: Double click on the Don’t run specified Windows applications policy and an application Windows will display on the screen.

Step 6: Checkmark on the Enable option, a list of disallowed applications will be shown highlighted, then click on “Show”.
Step 7: Then add the programs whichever you want to disable, just copy the name.exe and paste it into the Show content list.
For Example type MSPaint in the windows search bar, right-click on it, and select the open file location option, you will see Windows accessories, choose to Paint and right-click on it, then click on properties and go to the shortcut tab.
Here you will see target bar %windir%\system32\mspaint.exe, here you have to select and copy only mspaint.exe and paste it on the show content list.

Step 4: Just right-click on an empty area on the right side and add a new “DWORD (32-bit) Value” named DisallowRun.

Step 6: Then right-click and add a new Key, also named “DisallowRun“. The folder will be created.
Step 7: Now select the DisallowRun folder in the left pane.
Step 8: and right-click in the empty area on the right side and add a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named 1.
Step 9: Double click and open 1 and give it a Value with the application you want to block, like “mspaint.exe“.
You can also add more programs with the same steps as shown and disable them and enable them.
